Philanthropy and Charitable Giving

Charitable giving is one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal to positively affect our community and the world in general.

At St James’s Place we are dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to address some of the worlds social and economic issues. Our aim is to increase awareness of philanthropy and to help you understand how you can effectively, and efficiently, support the causes and communities you care about.

We want to help you make philanthropy and charitable giving as easy as possible and provide the best advice to ensure your money works harder for the causes you believe in and minimises your tax obligation. SJP is a member of the Charitable Aid Foundation (CAF). CAF allows you to set aside money in a tax-efficient manner, for gifts to charitable causes.  With the collective expertise of SJP and CAF, we will work collaboratively to help you meet your giving goals.

We believe the experience of giving should be rewarding and evolve to keep pace with your ambition and generosity. From defining and refining your goals and developing an effective strategy to measuring the impact of your giving, our insight will help translate ideas into tangible results.

So, whether you are starting on your journey, want to expand or continue your philanthropic endeavours, we can support you.

Will writing

A well-written and planned Will is essential for everyone and not just those who may be affected by Inheritance Tax (IHT). If you don’t have a Will, your assets will be distributed according to intestacy rules, which means they may not go to your chosen heirs.

Most of us would prefer to control who benefits from our estates and none of us would be comfortable knowing that HMRC could be the biggest beneficiary of our lifetime of work.

Everyone needs a Will. But never assume that a Will you had drawn up many years ago will still hold good tomorrow. Inheritance tax laws are constantly being reviewed so it’s essential to regularly, review your Will in order to ensure it is optimising tax allowances and that it reflects your current financial circumstances.

We work with a number legal service providers who can arrange for Wills to be drawn up on your behalf. This is just part of the service we provide on protecting you and your estate.
