New Partners
As a new partner, your focus is most probably more on developing your career and less on how you plan for your retirement.
However, at this time, it is important to build up enough for retirement as well as putting in place sufficient savings to cover expenses such as school and university fees.
You will also need to ensure that you have sufficient protection in place to protect you and your family should anything happen to you.
We can help with all of this.
Speak to us about your goals and aspirations today and we will help you put a plan in place which focuses on the ‘Three Pillars’ of financial planning:
Pillar One - Life planning
In the first phase of this process, we will arrange a time (or multiple times) to meet with you. During this session, we will discuss your financial and life ambitions, helping you to establish your goals.
Pillar Two - Financial Planning
Now it’s time to build a financial plan that will put you on the path toward achieving those goals.
Pillar Three - Financial Product & Investment Advice
With goals set and a plan in place, we will move on to help you select the products and investment strategies that will help you execute the plan and meet your goals.
The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select, and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
Partners Approaching Retirement
When approaching retirement, the biggest concern you will have is ensuring that you have enough saved to maintain your lifestyle. We are here to advice you and help you make the right decisions to ensure a secure financial retirement. There are many options to be considered:
*Income drawdown will reduce the size of your pension fund and the investment growth may not be sufficient to maintain the level of income you wish to draw. If you withdraw money at a rate greater than the growth achieved by your investments, your remaining fund will reduce in value. The level of income you take will need to be reviewed if the fund becomes too small - this is more likely the higher the level of income you take.
The income you receive may be lower than the amount from an annuity, depending on the performance of your investments. As annuity rates can change substantially and rapidly, there is no guarantee that when you do purchase an annuity the rates will be favourable. This could mean that your pension thereafter may be less than you hoped for. The rules governing how much income you can take directly from your pension fund may change. This could mean that the income you can take from the investment no longer meets your requirements.
Defined Contribution (DC) Pensions
The Pension Freedom Reforms, implemented in April 2015, changed retirement planning significantly.
Individuals now have full access to Defined Contribution (DC) pensions from the age of 55, with unrestricted income available, subject to paying their marginal rate of Income Tax on any taxable withdrawals.

Retired Partners
As a fully, or partially retired Partner, it’s crucially important to review your existing investments regularly to ensure that they are still performing as expected. This will establish whether they continue to meet your needs.
Retirement and decumulation services are a large part of our business. They’re amongst the most important services we provide, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that when it comes to your retirement, we have you covered.
We will work closely with you and continue to meet on a regular basis in order to identify those things that are important to you and help you to make the right decisions.
Additionally, we work with a carefully selected panel of providers who’ll be on hand to work with you, ensuring everything is progressing as expected.
